A democratic woman may win the gubernatorial election in Oregon.

Incumbent Kate Brown served her first term in 2015. She has the lead in this election with 50.1 percent of the votes.

Her opponent, Republican Knute Buehler, is trailing behind with 44.2 percent of the votes.

For decades, Oregon voters have favored democratic candidates in major elections. In the last 10 elections, they have had eight democratic victories.

Women have also been dominating the state. Oregon has more women in leadership roles than most states in the U.S.
