The U.S.Senate election for Washington has come to a close.

 

Maria Cantwell (democrat) won with 58.6% of the election votes, while her Republican opponent Susan Hutchison fell shortly behind with 41.4% of the votes.

 

This was a huge win for the Senate race as Democrats try and add some blue to the normally red minds. CNN is still projecting the Senate to be mainly republican.
